Abstract

Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has forced universities to switch to distance learning and to review the approach of clinical learning. The aim of the study is to explore the experiences, the emotional and the adaptive responses of nursing students in relation to the pre-triage Covid-19 and understand the perspectives with which they faced this period. At the Degree Course in Nursing in Turin, the students were involved in the drafting of a logbook during their internship experience which took place in April 2020. The qualitative research is based on the phenomenological approach according to Giorgi. We analysed 21 logbooks. The following themes emerged: being contributory in professional life, what COVID entails for oneself in transformative terms, awareness of the importance of emotional relationships with family members, friends and experienced internship. Students report in their diaries the intense reflections, emotional reactions and profound experiences that characterized their experience during the pandemic. The findings can help nursing educators better understand their students' responses and feelings.
