The 2018 OECD-PISA Report indicates how Italy ranks among the last in reading and science, with results below the average of the countries involved even in text comprehension. This result offers not only an idea of the current cultural level of our country, but also emphasizes a risk, already anticipated by the Frankfurters in the mid-twentieth century, that could involve the younger generations: living in a one-dimensionality of thought, without tools to read and interpret reality (and themselves). To contrast this risk, an experimentation was conducted with a group of students from the Degree Course in Pedagogical Sciences at the University of Florence, which represents a challenge to develop new reading practices and which could also be promoted with young people: combining classical texts with the artistic iconography as a moment to promote introspection and Self-care, in a perspective of constant multi- dimensional dialogue and exchange.
