In recent years, research into the design of healing environments has focused on the link between nature and well-being. These findings have led to conscious visions of the interpenetration of greenery and buildings; greenery that is not only aesthetic but also functional, as it can have a positive impact on the health and well-being not only of patients and/or their families, but above all of those who work in the facilities themselves, improving their levels of satisfaction and productivity, as well as being a valuable aid in reducing burnout. This, in turn, translates into a better quality of care. Based on an ecosystem perspective and an analysis of the best-known healing gardens, both nationally and internationally, the paper aims to reflect on the effectiveness of these spaces in promoting soft skills such as communication, collaboration, resilience and empathy.
