Diritto alla città: prospettive pedagogiche e sperimentazioni immersive in carcere

Abstract

In penitentiary contexts, both for adults and especially for minors, deviance often results in the deprivation of cultural rights and, more broadly, of the right to the city, thereby reinforcing conditions of marginalization and educational poverty. From this perspective, access to cultural heritage takes on a significant pedagogical role, as it fosters self-development and the cultivation of critical thinking. Conceived as an experiential and reflective space, cultural heritage offers incarcerated individuals the opportunity to explore identity, emotions, and self-representation, enabling processes of meaning coconstruction and critical awareness. Within this framework, the experimentation with virtual reality headsets carried out through the PACE Project – Cultural Heritage and Educating Communities (PRIN 2022) – provides an immersive aesthetic encounter with artworks, capable of stimulating interest and activating both cognitive and relational resources.
